Background/History
The Omni-mixing™ technology was developed over the last decade by the team at Rock Solid Concrete Products in Athabasca, Alberta. They took their extensive knowledge from operating Canada’s largest continuous mixing concrete company to design and build a platform with the concrete producer in mind because at heart, they are concrete producers first.
They have designed the highest capacity system ever to be used for continuous concrete mixing, while solving maintenance issues historically known to plague the mobile mixing industry. In addition, they designed a concrete mixer while adding a state-of-the-art control system that delivers unmatched control and accuracy in the delivery of concrete.

Our Goals
ASTM “Measurement of Materials”
- Coarse aggregates, fine aggregates, and each cementitious material shall be separated and weighed individually. The accuracy of measuring devices shall be such that successive quantities can be measured within ±1.0%.
- Mixing water shall be measured by volume or by weight using a device accurate to within ±0.5%. Air entraining agent and other admixtures shall be added to the batch in a water diluted solution. The solution concentration shall be acceptable to the mix design review professional and the Consultant.
ASTM Mixing Concrete
- Mixing shall produce homogenous Consistent Concrete
- Concrete shall be mixed thoroughly with all ingredients uniformly distributed. The Consultant may require that the uniformity of the mixed concrete be tested for conformance with ASTM. The “Batch” will be considered the quantity of concrete inside the mixer regardless of the size of the mixer. The mixing period shall be measured from the time materials enter the mixing drum.

ASTM “Water Added”
- The mixer shall be fitted with an accurate and dependable means for measuring the water added, which is not affected by variation in pressure in the water supply line. Water to Cementitious ratios shall be accurate.
- With traditional “batch” or barrel mixing sources of water are:
- Batch water
- Aggregates
- Left over wash water
- Water added during slump checking, on-route, or at site
- Omni Mixing is the only mixing process that ensures full measurement of all sources of water and manages W/CM ratios in specification. We measure then control multiple times a second:

Air Entrainment and Admixtures
- Air entraining agents and other admixtures depend on the mixing process for distribution and utilization.

Remixing / Tempering
- Traditional Barrel Mixers can compromise product quality by:
- Tempering of Concrete is adding water at the job site, this practice often is without approval, and absolves the concrete supplier of responsibility.
- Remixing is often required when other ingredients (including adding water), this process takes time and breaks developing bond crystals.
- Omni Mixing does not require retempering or remixing, we produce concrete to specification and allow instantaneous adjustments during production that are within the project specifications while at the same time preventing non-approved changes to the mix proportions.
- Omni Mixing ensures complete mixing of the entire batch.
4.6.3 Time of Hauling
- ASTM minimizes haul times and requires <60min to <90 min (depending on mix) from time of cement contact with water to FULL discharge.
- Timed out concrete is common with barrel mixers
- Hot loads due to heat of hydration reduces workability, decreases overall strength and ultimately reduces long term durability of concrete when concrete temperatures are elevated due to delivery and discharge times in barrel mixers
- Omni Mixing assures project owners that 0 rejected loads even with timed out loads, hot loads, off spec loads and reduces on-site stress because of backed up deliveries.
